What ages are served?
ALC serves children ages Birth - 6 years although most preschool participants are at least 18 months old. Children under 18 months are typically served through ALC 's parent/infant individual therapy program. ALC has a warm, non-clinical outpatient therapy program that offers OT, PT, ST services for children from infancy through elementary school-ages.
What disabilities are served?
ALC serves a wide-range of physical, cognitive, and social/emotional and behavioral disabilities such as autistic spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, Fragile X, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophies and many other developmental and at-risk conditions . Children do not need a diagnosis to be served.
Where are services provided?
Services are provided in the preschools run by the Marcus Jewish Community Centers of Atlanta in Dunwoody, Marietta, and Atlanta (Virginia Highlands), Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool and First Prebsyterian of Atlanta Preschool. Therapy is integrated into classroom activities whenever possible.
Out-patient occupational, speech, and physical therapies and play therapy are offered at the ALC clinic in Marietta (on the grounds of Shirley Blumenthal Park).
Do you have to be Jewish to receive services at the MJCCA Preschools?
No. On average, more than 75% of the children served by ALC are not Jewish. Programs at Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool and 1st Presbyterian of Atlanta Preschool also are open to children of all religious and ethnic backgrounds.
What is the staff-to-child ratio in the preschool classroom?
Staff-to-child ratios meet NAEYC standards and surpass state licensing standards. Depending on the age of the child, ratios typically are 3:15 for younger preschoolers and 2:15 for older preschoolers. These ratios do not include ALC facilitators assigned to each classroom. Children with special needs comprise about 10% of the enrollment of each inclusive classroom.
How is ALC funded?
Fees and insurance reimbursements typically pay less than 50 % of the cost of providing services. The remainder is raised through contributions from the individials, foundations, corporations, and government grants. ALC is a 501, C-3 nonprofit agency. All contributions are tax-deductible.
What are the fees for services?
Facilitation - Dependent on location and schedule of days. Call ALC office for fee schedule.
Therapy - $150/hour for treatment. Call ALC office for evaluation fees.
Preschool tuition fees are paid to the preschool where a child is enrolled and vary depending on the childs’ age and schedule. These fees are in addition to the facilitation fees paid to ALC.
What financial aid is available?
ALC is an out of network provider and therefore various medical insurance are accepted. There is limited scholarship funding available. Please call our office at 770-509-3909 for additional information.
What days and hours are services provided?
The MJCCA preschool programs operate year-round from 9:30 - 1:30 Monday through Friday, August through May. There is also a 6-week summer session. Five-day, three-day, and two-day schedules are available. 1st Presbyterian Preschool operates from 9:00 - 12:00 Monday through Friday, August through May. There is no summer program. Five-day, three-day, and two-day schedules are available. Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool operates from 9:00 - 12 noon, Monday through Friday, September through May. There is no summer program.
